About Al Littell
Al was born on the south side of Chicago, IL. He was the oldest son of a single mother. His mother, Margaret, did the best she could to provide for Al and his two brothers, often doing without to make sure her sons had what they needed.
At the age of eight, Al began to shine shoes to help make money for the family. He would stand on the sidewalk outside of businesses or got into bars to ask the men if they would like for him to shine their shoes.
In high school, he learned teamwork and physical discipline. This helped him when he entered the United States Marine Corps after high school. He served during the Vietnam War. During his tenure, he advanced to the rank of Gunnery Sargeant beginning in motor transport and later transferring to small arms repair. In all, he proudly served ten years.
Upon returning home from his time of service, he held various positions as a professional driver before being offered a position at the Chicago Transit Authority. Al worked in the maintenance department for 16 years holding various positions as driver driving different vehicles from tow truck to snowplow.
He is a proud father of five daughters, grandfather of twenty, and great grandfather of four. He has been a resident of Mississippi for ten years.
I have worked hard all my life. Nothing was given to me. I had to earn everything I had. I am not rich, but I am blessed and desire to be a blessing to others.
